Zambezi’s media division, Scale by Zambezi, is seeking an Assistant Media Planner to join the growing team. Scale is a modern media practice that combines creative thinking with data-driven insights.

The Assistant Media Planner supports the team cross-functionally across strategy, planning, and execution. Responsibilities include assisting with day-to-day tasks throughout a campaign lifecycle, making this an excellent opportunity to begin a career in media. RESPONSIBILITIES:

20% Collaborating with Media Team for Strategy and Plan Development

  • Utilizes planning, evaluation, and buying tools (e.g., MRI, Comscore, Crimson Hexagon, Bionic, Campaign Manager) for application and analysis into the competitive landscape, target digital consumption support, plan development, and reporting.
  • Assists in creating media-specific documents such as RFPs, media plans, objectives and strategies decks, and other related functions.
  • Begins to demonstrate critical thinking and analysis to draw conclusions and interpret actionable implications.
  • Supports the team during the media plan development stage to collect RFP responses from partner sites and assists in analyzing proposals and partner negotiations.
  • Monitors trends, tools, opportunities, and applications in paid social media environments, and appropriately applies that knowledge.
  • Compiles updates on partner capabilities and offerings through vendor contact.
  • Participates in team brainstorms to kick off plan and consideration set development. 

25% Campaign Execution

  • Assists with trafficking plan assets, such as creative and required tracking tags.
  • Supports the setup of 3rd party ad server/tracker systems, ensuring sites are enabled, functioning properly, and all materials are received from the creative agency.
  • Supports Quality Assurance (QA) of tracking functionality and creative units to identify and solve any issues.
  • Creates campaign post-launch information, such as screenshots, links, and placement information, to demonstrate proof of placement for clients. 

30% Campaign Management

  • Begins to enter plans in the billing system (Advantage), tracks insertion orders, develops creative specifications, and handles traffic sheets/creative assignments as necessary.
  • Supports the generation of insertion orders within internal systems tools to reserve advertising space and is responsible for the accuracy of plan details and confirmation of delivery, ensuring proper protocol.
  • Maintains plan records, insertion orders, contact lists, spec documents, etc.
  • Assists with creating creative allocation sheets and learns about the process with Account, Production, and Analytics teams.
  • Assists in managing day-to-day communication with key partners: vendors, partner agencies, and media and social clients.

25% - Reporting on Campaign Performance

  • Assists in building campaign performance reports, including aggregating information from third-party servers and site-direct reporting.
  • Supports in evaluating campaign effectiveness via reporting (at predetermined cadences) and post-campaign analysis.
  • Supports with monitoring and reporting weekly performance, actively communicating optimization opportunities and challenges, and implementing changes in the plan.

DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications or a related field.
  • Some prior professional experience (0-1 year) in Media, Social Media, or Search, ideally gained through an internship.
  • Comfortable with numbers and general math.
  • Ability to interpret research and analyze data to identify trends and insights.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), with a strong command of Excel for data manipulation and reporting.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; able to be clear, concise, and articulate in all communications.
  • Highly accurate and detail-oriented; takes diligent notes, triple-checks work, and ensures all materials are professionally presented.
  • Relationship Builder and Team Player: Develops collaborative relationships with internal teams, external partners, and media vendors.
  • Proactive and Solutions-Oriented: Comes to the table with potential solutions for tasks and issues, knows when to escalate urgent matters, and is willing to take on additional tasks when day-to-day responsibilities are managed.
  • Eagerness to Learn: Possesses a strong curiosity and desire to learn more about the media landscape, marketplace, and client businesses.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

The salary range for this position is $50,000 - $55,000. Exactly where a prospective employee will be paid within this range will depend on, among other factors, the candidate’s depth of experience and qualifications about the job description and the actual job duties of the role. In addition to salary, we offer comprehensive benefits (covering 100% medical, dental, vision, open PTO, and more). The range above is for the expectations as laid out in the job description, however, we are often open to a wide variety of profiles to find the right candidate for Zambezi.
